Visualizing WiFi Signals with Light

I've often joked that if we could see the right frequencies my apartment probably glows in the dark from all the signals and magnetic activity between all the electronics in it. This video reiterates the fact that we live inside bubbles of electromagnetic activity we can not see. It is also beautiful.

This project explores the invisible terrain of WiFi networks in urban spaces by light painting signal strength in long-exposure photographs. A four-metre long measuring rod with 80 points of light reveals cross-sections through WiFi networks using a photographic technique called light-painting. Have you ever wondered what the WiFi signal looks like around your office, school, or local café? In this video,  Timo ArnallJørn Knutsen, and  Einar Sneve Martinussen show you the invisible. And they pulled this off by building a WiFi measuring rod, measuring four meters in length, that can visualize WiFi signals around Oslo, Norway with the help of long exposure photography.
