Recent developments on popular video hosting sites like YouTube, Hulu, and Fancast - as well as research about how audiences watch online video - suggest that online video is becoming a lot more like the old “mass media” system. Not so much the cultural future of decentralized production and daring changes in form some have suggested. Christian Sandvig - Berkman Fellow and Associate Professor in Communication, Media, and Cinema Studies at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign - argues that choices about the distribution infrastructure for video will determine whether all our future screens will be the same.
Great to see the translation of the concept introduced at the end of last year into a working publication. The designation of a magazine+ is a good way to maintain the connection with the printed publication. There are also a couple of tips to consider when designing for the iPad. It really does look like the magazine experience enhanced, because they focused on creating new metaphors as opposed to just translating the linear format of a magazine.
