Bodytorque.Technique: The Australian Ballet

For almost a decade, The Australian Ballet's Bodytorque seasons have been a laboratory for our dancers to try out new ideas, discover new skills and let loose to experiment. In this doco, we meet the choreographers of Bodytorque.Technique and step inside the studio as they create their brand-new works.

After spending A Year With The Australian Ballet we now catch up with The Australian Ballet as they embark on a new movement in ballet, one that focuses less on storytelling and instead puts the spotlight on the athleticism and technique of the dancers.

What is a dancer without technique? It is the foundation of great artistry, the core of creative being, the ability to achieve the seemingly impossible: to soar through the air and defy gravity; to balance as if suspended by an invisible string; and to create shapes the human body never thought it could.
In this episode we dissect one of ballet's most celebrated moves, the sissone. Production The Apiary
In the third instalment of our technique series, we take a look at the feather-light precision of the allegro. Production: The Apiary More info: australianballet.com.au/bodytorque
Let's give it some spin! In Episode 4 we showcase that classic ballet move, the pirouette. Production: The Apiary More info: australianballet.com.au/bodytorque
